Printed Electronics

Printed electronics are sets of printing methods that are used to create electronic devices on different substrates, and according to the standards of the electronics industry, they are low-cost processes. In this process, electrically efficient inks sit on the substrate, which can create passive or active elements such as resistors or thin film transistors. Ink materials must be liquid and act as conductors, semiconductors, dielectrics or insulators. The cost of the material should be proportionate to the application.

The combination of nanoscience features with printing technology has led to new fields of low-cost electronics.

One of the applications in the electronic printing industry is a printing heater. Printed heater systems are used for automotive, ATM, security, mirror, display and military applications. Coatings, conductive adhesives and conductive inks are designed for use on clear or standard heating coils.

Today, there is an increasing requirement for telecommunications in wearable devices such as fitness and healthcare monitoring, automotive sensors and RFID/NFC for smart packaging. To ensure cost effective application, there is a drive to additively print on low cost substrates such as polycarbonate and paper using R2R processing techniques.

In addition, printed electronics are also used in the printed circuit board. Printed circuit board (PCB) application demands highly durable products that can withstand extreme environments whilst exhibiting stable electrical and mechanical performance.

Manufacturing of touch screen technology can be readily undertaken using our high durability conductive inks and pastes that can be processed at high line and space resolution for bus bar structures.

Drawing on our expertise in the development and production of electronic inks and adhesives, we have developed printable graphene conductive materials for a variety of applications. See the link below for more information.
